Background on Spectra Media – web content writing and copywriting services
What’s in the name?
“Spectra” means the unique range of beautiful colours radiated by stars in space. In like manner I want my web content and copywriting to ‘shine’ – attracting attention and drawing business for my clients.
I achieve ‘Dynamic connection to your target audience’ using empathy and resonance (striking a chord), trust-building, and ‘indirect persuasion’ to draw the right response. It also comes from writing with clarity, flow, and rhythm to keep people reading.
A solid values foundation
- Excellence – delivering high quality content that strengthens my client’s brand
- Win-win – a long-term partnership where my clients’ success means my success
- Service – adaptability to meet client needs with friendly personal advice and help
- Integrity – honesty and fairness in all dealings
Communication… and connection with people
My creative communication side showed up at school when I got a ‘well done card’ for story writing and my art
teacher displayed my stuff in the corridor. I’ve got into a few creative pursuits over the years and being a bit ‘outside-the-square’, I like to find novel ways to do things.
Experience in counselling has taught me to listen to where people are at – their pain, needs, fears, and aspirations – and then to find a solution to help them get to where they need to go.
I’ve also learned ‘effective communication and human relations’ skills through a Dale Carnegie course, plus interviewing, marketing, and writing skills from an ex TV talk show host.
This has all been valuable because I know that at the end of the day, people do business with people!
Outside business
I’ve always liked variety in life and the adventure of exploring new things and places – like outdoor recreation including tramping, kayaking, and surfing. Over the years I’ve travelled all around NZ and to Asia, Europe, Middle East, and North America, and being a bit of a scenery junkie, I like to capture beauty on camera.
Animals have been a soft spot for me since childhood – dogs, cats, and other cute little critters. An itinerant lifestyle means I can’t keep any myself these days, but I enjoy looking after others’ pets.
I’ve been involved in various Christian ministries over the years – including kids/youth and pastoral work. This has been great training in leadership and people skills.
